Keeping up

November 9th, 2009 by Nanette

So I am keeping up with my personal  “Make Art Everyday” challenge. Today is catch up day. Its been a busy weekend and I’ve tried really hard to make this challenge work. I’ve decided that the challenge didn’t mean “Finish” Art Everyday. Just make it. Make something. So I’m making…this may give you an insight to all the projects I have going on at once. Don’t even try to keep up with all that is in my head.

scribble_zentanglesLast time I posted was Thursday last week, so here’s what I’ve been doing since Friday.

Friday…First Friday at Artist Alley with Art in the Pines being the focus for the Friday and Saturday holiday kick off. On Friday, with inspiration from Jane Davilla (who also is doing the Make Art Challenge) and her little stitched sketches and my most recent Zentangles experience, I decided to make a Zentangle using free motion quilting. Yes, non-stop sewing until the little square was filled it. I really like the result and even included my signature. Fun!

sockmonkey legsSaturday…Second day of Art in the Pines at Artist Alley and grocery shopping day. While we were driving to the store, I worked on my knitted sock monkey. I’m making a pair of monkeys for a set of twins that will be born early next year. Just a little silliness to work on during long car rides and boring movie watching.

peyotestitchSunday…took an image transfer class with my friend Jodi Ohl. I have nothing original to show you for this fun 2 hour class. Later in he evening, while watching another movie, I did work  on my peyote stitch business card case. Whenever I go to Houston, I pick up a little crafty gift to make for myself.  This will take awhile, but I’m having fun beading by numbers. I’ve always wanted to learn the peyote stitch…this gives me the chance to try it.

AWES-logoToday, Monday…Several months ago, I was asked to make a logo for someone. So tonight, I played with Adobe Illustrator and came up with something. Of course, I can’t show you the entire thing until the potential owner approves the design, but you can get the idea…maybe. Another to do off my list.

So…yes…I am keeping up with my creating Art Everyday Challenge. I have several things planned for the future days…Hopefully, I’ll have time to get to it all.

Love your free motion Zentangle! Is it still meditative on the sewing machine?

Love your stitched sketch. Hope to see the knitted sock monkey finished, I bet that’s really cute. Your business card case is going to be amazing. It’s been fun to look at your work. Thanks for sharing with us.

love the zentangle doodle stitching you’ve done–I can see this blossoming for you! I’m sorry you didn’t come away with anything original from the class but I hope you had fun nevertheless!
