Home again, Home again, Jiggity Jig

AAQI volunteersEight days traveling really takes a lot out of me. Especially when those days are non-stop 16 hour days. We worked our fannies off raising money at International Quilt Festival in Houston for the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative.

Eight regular volunteers and several “celebrity” volunteers pushed Priority Art Quilts to eager shoppers at Festival. I’m amazed that we raised over $45,000 in just 5 days of the event.  All profit from the sale of these quilts goes to fund Alzheimer’s Research.

Downonthe-farmIt was great fun hanging with the AAQI crew. I enjoyed seeing the regulars and meeting new people. I’ve come back inspired beyond which my head can deal with.

Unlike past years, we took an extra day to hang out together. It was nice to decompress on Kathy’s farm in the middle of nowhere Texas. A baby calf was born minutes before we arrived. We walked part of the 90 acres she owns and had a relaxing sit on her porch. I finished the “bolo chicken” that I started in class days earlier (You can see it in my hand). We also enjoyed meeting the horses, Jack and Billy, and watching the dogs run free range.Billythehorse

Its good to be home with my “children.” And begin processing my plans for the future. There are so many opportunities. I was exposed to so many ideas it will take a while to get through all that I have planned in my head. You’ll have to watch my blog for my future adventures. For now, I’m just happy to be home again, home again, jiggity jig….Ain’t that right Billy?
