Leave’n on a Jet Plane

Five Ruck SacksHow does that song go? “All my bags are made, I’m ready to pack, I don’t know if I’ll wanna come back”

Well that’s how its playing in my head this morning. International Quilt Festival Booth #4660 Houston…here we come! I’m one of the many thousands of fiber fiends that will be heading to Texas over the next week. A fabric, fiber, embellishment heaven for those of us who enjoy playing with needles and thread.

One RuckThis year I’ll be, once again, helping Ami Simms sell Priority: Alzheimer’s Quilts for AAQI. All the profit from the sale of these quilts will go to fund Alzheimer’s Research.

To be sure people can find us at Festival, my friend Debbie and I sewed up some nifty purple ruck sacks to wear as we walk the floors of the George R. Brown Convention Center. The Quilter’s Ruck Sack pattern is a Bethany Reynolds original design that she allowed us to use for the event. All the fabric we used was donated by fabric designer Two BeesMark Hordyszynski (shout out to Mark as he leaves Texas as I’m landing).

Did you notice the 2 bees? That’s in memory of our founder’s mom Beebe Moss, who died shortly after festival last year from Alzheimer’s disease . You are our inspiration Beebe, you are in all of our hearts.

If you make it to Houston…look for us and say hello.
