Felted Velvet Fiber Fancies and Other Facts

January 12th, 2009 by Nanette

Ok…I dare you to say the title 10 times fast!

Felted Velvet HeartsTime to start replenishing my pin selection at Artist Alley. Knowing that the season of “LUV” is fast approaching, I decided to make hearts with a red velvet foundation fabric. The hearts are embellished with wool, silk, yarn and a little dangly accent of beads. Truly a fiber he-art. More to come later this week.

During this new year, I’m trying to focus more time on my work. I have many projects that need my attention, some that are purely for my pleasure and other meant to promote me professionally. During this creative time, I’m also trying to get more productive with my studio space… In lay terms that means, cleaning my room.

The Mixed Media Guild I belong to offered a challenge to its members. Those who volunteered, were provided with a box of 33 “finds” that need to be incorporated into a finished piece by the first week in March.  This shall prove to be a challenge, the finds are diverse (including, bullet casings, scented oil bottles, mini-lightbulbs, dictionary pages, scrabble tiles, etc.). I have an idea strongly set in my brain. That in itself is a big challenge. We’ll see were this takes me.

I’ve been told that for my sign (Aquarius) 2009, is going to be a good year. With all the exciting challenges I have coming, its got to be good. Hope everyone I know experiences  similar positive karma this year.

About NanetteSayZ

Nanette was born to two creative parents that never were given the opportunity to truly nurture their dreams. While pursuing her education, Nanette struggled with expressing her inner artist. Having been blessed with many things, including a very supportive husband, "Nanette Says", its time to let the creative me meet the rest of the world.
