Knitting with Friends
As a continuation of my post from yesterday, I’m keeping to the knitting theme. I’ve had a very restful holiday week. DH has taken vacation time and we’re enjoying the quietness of hanging out. We’re enjoying lots of NetFlix videos, catching up on odd tasks that we’ve neglected through the year, and I am, of course, knitting. I can’t just sit idly watching the TV. So I work on projects that are easy to do while watching the tube. That forĀ me is knitting. I don’t always have to watch my hands as I knit, so I can watch an important scene of a movie without dropping a stitch. Then when things get a little dull with the flick, I can focus on what my hands are doing.

I also find that when I stop my work for a few minutes that one of my dear friends will help me along. Shiraz is a master knitter, well at least that’s what she tells me. She’ll jump in where I left off and is ready to mimic me including taking control of the remote.
Why cats like knitting is beyond me. I know they like to chase the string of yarn as it uncoils from the ball, but there’s something deeper. The feline gender in my home, often curl up with me when I’m knitting. I think they find something peaceful about me sitting still in this meditative state. It baffles me, but I enjoy their company, especically when its cool outside. The warm body of a cat on my lap while I knit adds to the relaxation effect that knitting gives me. Its a pleasure to knit with my feline friends.

From the sound of your post, it sounds like you are in a good peaceful place, surrounded by people you love, animals you adore, and a meditative art that you can transform into lovely “art-i-facts”.
Here’s to a 2009 that brings more of all that and then some!

Aw! Such a sweet baby! Cats are great, aren’t they? Specially when their long hairs get into EVERYTHING!!
