Its snowing leaves!
The last couple weeks have proven to be a challenge for me. Life sometimes does happen. My plan was to take the month of December and work on my projects. That was my goal to catch up on the ideas floating in my head. No distractions planned. No major work projects to interfere with my day time.
Then…my mother-in-law went in for surgery before Thanksgiving. Between multiple hospital stays and doctors appointments she’s been living here with us. The man and I have moved into the second floor guest room so MIL had single floor access. Between living upstairs and downstairs at the same time and caring for another person. I’ve had limited time to work. So much for planning. Life does happen.
This morning was the first day, in several days, that I was able to take the dogs for a good long walk. I tried to be in the moment. Focus on the walk, not the million other things that had to be done today. If you’ve never done mindful meditation or mindfulness thinking…wow! it really can ground you and get your head straight.
Anyway, my two 4-legged sons and I went for a walk and headed to the lake. It was a beautiful morning. Winter isn’t quite yet in the air. Most of the leaves have fallen, but there still are a few trees hanging on to their golden locks. At one point, a breeze blew over us and some of the remaining leaves started to fall. I looked up and watched as the golden leaves floated down, back dropped by the soft blue sky. I focused on the leaves and let all my other thoughts fade. I pictured large golden snow flakes, as the leaves glided to the ground. It was snowing leaves. I felt warm and at peace. Life is good and beautiful, if you allow yourself to be open and see it.
So I tell you, next time the world gets you down. Don’t put your head under the covers. Get out and Breathe! You’ll feel much better if you do…
